Mridula Rao is a Bharatantayam and Kathak practitioner based in Bangalore and has over two decades of experience in the classical dance field. She has been mentored by Nirupama and Rajendra in Bangalore.

Besides training in classical dance, she regularly participates in theatre workshops to seek new languages of expression and to widen her perspective in art.

Mridula is a graded artist of Doordarshan broadcasting television (Govt of India). Her works abroad include collaborations with Chitraleka Dance Co. UK, Western Orchestra Chamber, Italy, Milapfest UK etc. She has also conducted dance-in-education workshops in 15 schools in the UK. Her interest in reimagining the pedagogy of Kathak led her to start Kala Sahita in the year 2014. In the last four years, Kala Sahita has been working towards building a pedagogy that enables critical thinking and pushing to work towards content that reflects the actualities of life.
