“The 5 years into the disability sector had far more meaning than the 30 years in the corporate sector. It was a realisation of my calling.” says Mohan.

“Back in 2014, I happened to meet Gitanjali at Enable India. She said that we should speak. We met again when she attended an event that launched DNA (NGO Federation) and we had a follow up as to what can be done. The conversations were around taking a project to scale that she was interested in. I was interested in mentoring a few NGOs and Snehadhara was a ready and willing candidate. My engagement with them was in terms of how we can get connections made and so on. I started interacting with Snehadhara frequently and got involved independent of DNA. Around 2017-2018, the engagement deepened. In the process of becoming more involved, I became a part of planning for Snehadhara. I was involved in helping build proposals for projects, giving a long term vision for them, looking at structuring projects/deliverables and structuring the organisation. I got involved explicitly for strategy and long term planning at SF. I suppose the change was that, I looked at myself as part of Snehadhara. Prior to that, I considered myself an outsider helping SF.”

“The skills that I had in strategy, planning, goal setting and building organisations applied well here. SF believes strongly in equity and inclusion which is imbibed by everybody engaged with SF, making them better, one way or the other. Nothing gives me more pleasure than seeing everything that happens here. It’s like watching one’s child grow. I am happy to see SF function as a professional organisation, something I always prescribed. That kind of outlook engenders an outcome focus. The scale of work has been growing exponentially and I see SF being a niche specialist organisation with a worldwide presence offering programs and services.”

What is Humans of SF?

This is a series on the humans of SF; an attempt to celebrate each of the people who make Snehadhara whole. Novelist Anne Sewell said “It is good people who make good places.” And amongst the many good people in this world, there are some here at Snehadhara who make up this good place. We are ecstatic to bring to you glimpses of the Snehadhara team. Join us as we delve into the stories of people who stand for SF.
