“Snehadhara will give you an experience for a lifetime which you will never get anywhere else. It would teach you to grow personally and professionally. – this is what I would tell others about Snehadhara.” says Jahnavi, an intern.

“I was looking for internships in Bangalore and through college I got a list of organisations. I found SF on this list and had shortlisted it. Snehadhara is an organisation that works with children and arts and that was a field I wanted to know more and learn about. Most internships are based on observation but this is one where you have to work and get first-hand experience. So I chose this. I had no expectations when I started but just knew that I was going to spend time with kids. I did not think or have knowledge of situations or what special needs kids would be like. While the first 2-3 days on campus was actually overwhelming and I had highs and lows, I learnt to be calm and found my way. A push can bring out great things and for me, my parents provided that push when I was overwhelmed and it has now given me this great experience for the better.”

“I have learnt many things from here. Before me doing any task, I think – if this was someone else was doing this to me, would I be comfortable? I did not do something that would be make me or others uncomfortable. I need to see what the end goal is and that would help in the journey to get there. I’ve learnt that though you need to have empathy towards kids, they are also normal and need to learn to be in a natural environment; so saying no to something they do is fine. I’ve learnt that everyone just needs space sometimes and it’s ok to give them that. Getting to interact with children, trying to form rapport and trying my way, trial and error with what works has been some of the best experiences I will take-away. This has made me mentally and physically strong. The learning and journey will stay with me lifelong.”

What is Humans of SF?

This is a series on the humans of SF; an attempt to celebrate each of the people who make Snehadhara whole. Novelist Anne Sewell said “It is good people who make good places.” And amongst the many good people in this world, there are some here at Snehadhara who make up this good place. We are ecstatic to bring to you glimpses of the Snehadhara team. Join us as we delve into the stories of people who stand for SF.
