As the vibrant month of May unfolds, Snehadhara Foundation extends a warm invitation to join us on a journey of rhythm and harmony. This summer, we’re offering a unique experience for everyone in India, with a series of curated events for children, adults, drummers, and leaders, providing a refreshing escape from the heat. Through the rhythmic beats of the djembe, we aim to create a symphony of communities, fostering unity and connection. Collaborating with Gladpeople Music Management Company, this series of workshops envisions a world where the transformative power of rhythmic expression is accessible to all, creating a shared artistic experience that transcends boundaries.

Collective Rhythm Experiences refer to structured and inclusive activities that involve a group of individuals actively participating in rhythmic expressions by playing the djembe or other rhythmic instruments, often facilitated by an expert in rhythm or a collective rhythm facilitator. This immersive experience has time and time again shown us how individuals from all walks of life can come together in this seemingly universal language of music and rhythm. With the space open to each individual to bring their own rhythm, a confluence and reflection of their experiences, the experience of the group then becomes unifying. Snehadhara Foundation’s direct beneficiary work with these rhythmic experiences includes engaging children from the Nelamangala campus, Nelamangala communities such as Clifton Park and neighbouring villages, as well as children from various government schools and observation homes. Rhythms have not only brought together individuals into a collective but also facilitated the realisation of key social and emotional goals for each of these groups.

As the rhythmic heartbeat of our collective experiences continues to resonate, we are thrilled to unveil the next chapter in Snehadhara Foundation’s journey: the “Echoes of Unity: Indo-Afro Rhythms Workshop.” Building upon the foundation of inclusivity and diversity established by our Collective Rhythm Experiences program, this event marks a significant milestone in our quest to bridge cultures and foster unity through rhythm. With the harmonious convergence of Guinean and other African cultures with Indian traditions, this workshop series promises to be a celebration of diversity and a testament to the power of music to transcend boundaries. Led by Master Barbara Bangoura Fakoly and the esteemed Guinean ensemble, this historic workshop, scheduled from 9th to 12th May, will immerse participants in the enchanting world of rhythm like never before. This aims to be a transformative journey of cultural exchange and collaboration, igniting echoes of unity that resonate across continents and communities.

In synergy with Snehadhara Foundation’s mission of inclusion and diversity, the workshop led by Master Barbara represents a celebration of cultural exchange and collaboration. Master Barbara Bangoura Fakoly, a luminary in the realm of percussion, and our extraordinary mentor of this transformative journey of rhythm and unity is a testament to the transformative power of rhythm, rooted in his rich heritage blending Soussou and Malinké traditions from Guinea. From his beginnings with the Ensemble des Percussions de Guinée Junior in Conakry to his esteemed tenure with the Djoliba National Ballet Company, Master Barbara has traversed the globe, spreading the vibrant rhythms of Guinea to students across Europe, China, Latin America, Africa, and the USA. His infectious joy and laughter infuse his profound teachings, making complex rhythms accessible to learners of all backgrounds and styles.

In addition to the myriad offerings of our workshop series with this Ensemble who will be in Bengaluru from 8th May to 20th May, we are excited to highlight two promising events that we hope will resonate with you and your loved ones.
