“People talk – I want to act. Whatever I can do for you, I will.” says Shaji.
“I started working for Snehadhara in 2018. One of my friends introduced me to this place. I had worked with others but this organisation is totally different. In the first few days, I didn’t know anything. I was not sure how to be with the children. I had never met children like this but I had heard that parents would usually keep them in the house. They’d be shy, sometimes ashamed, to take children outside. It was a completely different experience. I liked that we work sincerely.”
“When I first came here, I spoke with Dr Gitanjali and told her that I will work with you. She works so hard and you can see the sincerity of the hardwork. My belief is the same – I want to work as much as I can and do it sincerely. I do not hold ill words or keep things to myself. I like to say it as I see it. I believe that you have a different talent and I have a different talent. So it’s okay that the work we do is different as long as we can respect each other and the work that we do. Coming here from a HR background, I wanted to learn something different. I did. Here, I do everything I can as part of all the different things that happen in campus. If I can step into the kitchen, I do; if it’s sessions, I try to help; managing materials, I try to help. I look at where I can be helpful and go there. I hope Snehadhara can also go where they are needed. Snehadhara is doing good work, important work so it should go bigger.”
What is Humans of SF?
This is a series on the humans of SF; an attempt to celebrate each of the people who make Snehadhara whole. Novelist Anne Sewell said “It is good people who make good places.” And amongst the many good people in this world, there are some here at Snehadhara who make up this good place. We are ecstatic to bring to you glimpses of the Snehadhara team. Join us as we delve into the stories of people who stand for SF.
