4th Stories of Change Awards by Azim Premji University
Snehadhara Foundation’s story ‘Uhuru’ was selected as one of the ten stories in the Stories of Change Compendium, Vol IV at the Azim Premiji University, Bengaluru, 2023 as a recognition of good practices of social change by NGOs, CBOs, Government programs/ Organizations, Social Enterprises and other organizations directly involved in design and implementation of development interventions.

Women Icon of the year (2021)
Gitanjali Sarangan, our Founder and Executive Director was awarded the Women Icon of the year 2021 by the International women’s day award, 2021 IWD –Indian Women Achievers awards on 7th March 2021.
The ‘INTERNATIONAL WOMENS DAY INDIAN ACHIEVERS AWARD’ (IWDIAA) was felicitated to 40 eminent women achievers for their exceptional abilities and outstanding accomplishments in the fields of innovation, multitalented, sports, arts, culture, social service and achievements etc.
This award honoured all women and girls for the invaluable role they play in society and the economy, to create an awareness and understanding of their backgrounds, journeys and stories of resilience.
The award ceremony took place on 7th March 2021 at the Conrad, Bengaluru and was felicitated by several dignitaries. Sowmya Reddy, the General Secretary of All India Mahila Congress of Karnataka and a member of the Indian National Congress, Bhaskar Rao, a former Commissioner of Bengaluru City Police (Aug 2019-Aug 2020) were honorary guests. Anuradha, an Indian actress, BJP member, and a member of the Karnataka Legislative Council, along with Dr. Balwant Singh, the Executive Director of Sphere, and renowned actress Shubra Aiyappa also graced the occasion with their presence.

We are ecstatic and proud to announce that our Founder and Executive Director, Gitanjali Sarangan, is an awardee of the Millennium Alliance Global Award-Round 6, for one of her many break-through innovations, ‘Kala Samvaad – Arts Practices for Inclusion’ in Nepal.
Creative Art Therapy Award – Sancheti Healthcare Academy
Snehadhara was awarded the 2nd Creative Art Therapy Award 2020 in for outstanding contribution to the field of Art Therapy by the Sancheti Healthcare Academy as a recognition to the silent heroes who have done exemplary and exceptional work in the field of Creative Art Therapies.
LEAPS SUMMIT, Qatar 2019
Snehadhara has been awarded as one among the 6 global progressive institutions at the LEAPS (Leading Educational Advancement through Progressive Schools) Summit at Qatar along with Lumiar Foundation, South America and UK; Hub School 21, France; NuVu, US; Kingsland Pre-Prep, UK and Agora School, Netherlands in November 2019.
The LEAPS Summit was hosted by the Qatar Foundation at Doha on 19th Nov, 2019. At the Round Table with Vice Chairperson and CEO Her Excellency Sheikha Hind bint Hamad Al Thani, Gitanjali Sarangan, Sumathi Ramjee and Soundararajan Sarangan shared the story of Snehadhara Foundation’s innovation in education and in reimagining classrooms using the arts.
45th International Conference of AEE at Montreal, Canada
Gitanjali Sarangan was an invited presenter at the 45th International Conference of the Association for Experiential Education at Montreal, Canada. This conference brought together a worldwide community of more than 700 practitioners, teachers, therapists, facilitators, adventure guides and trainers.
Millennium Alliance award – Top five Innovations in the country for Education
Snehadhara was the recipient of the Millennium Alliance Grant as a social innovator of one of the top five innovations in the country for Education, 2017 by FICCI and in partnership with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the Technology Development Board, Department of Science and Technology, Government of India for the project ‘Kala Samavesh -Inclusion and Education of Disabilities, 2017.
The MA is an inclusive platform to leverage Indian creativity, expertise, and resources to identify and scale innovative solutions being developed and tested in India to address development challenges that will benefit base of the pyramid populations across India and the world.
Under FICCI’s leadership and in partnership with United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the Technology Development Board , Department of Science and Technology, Government of India ,Millennium Alliance awards Innovators in various sectors.

IFA Artist’s Grant 2014
IFA Artist’s Grant 2014: Taking Art in Education Ahead
India Foundation for the Arts has awarded Gitanjali Sarangan, Executive Director, Snehadhara Foundation the Artist’s Grant for the ‘Art in Education Program’ for this academic year. She is one among two artists to be awarded the grant this year.
Taking ahead our belief in Art Based Education and its effectiveness in creating inclusive and accepting environments and more importantly integrating arts into teaching methodologies within classroom settings, the ‘Art in Education’ program will help create an inclusive program for 30 children from the Puttenahalli Government School and their community. This work will use creative arts based interventions to build awareness about the environment and water conservation among the children and their neighborhood. The program will also focus on building social skills in children while looking at specific needs of those who require support with meeting learning needs.

IFA’s mission is to enrich the arts in India, by providing support for innovative projects and capacity building across all the arts. Gitanjali Sarangan was recognized at the Global Ethics Forum’s ‘My Choice for Equality’ Recognition 2014, by Global Ethics Forum and Indian Institute of Management, standing up against inequality and taken action towards establishing a more equal, impartial and fair world-2014.
